DEFINITION OF FEAR: An unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat.

Fear has no boundaries. It can affect all types of people. There is no age, sex economics or race discrimination guidelines. It is estimated that 30% of the population avoids going to the dentist due to fear. Incorporating oral conscious sedation into my dental practice allows me to treat patient in a safe, fear reduced environment. Patients can have their treatment done in minimal visits, experience no pain and have little memory of their dental appointments.

During oral conscious sedation appointments, I monitor all patients using a pulse oximeter which measures and records blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation.
I dispense different medications at different dosages to achieve the depth and length of sedation required do the dentistry. The medications I use include Diazepam, Triazolam, Hydroxyzine, and Lorazepam. I also may use nitrous oxide during injections. I also have different protocols depending on the age and health of the patients.
